Gateway Board Tournament Online Registration

The Gateway Board Tournament has 6 divisions:

Schools can enter any number of players (and teams in different divisions, if the school qualifies). The High School Division team score is based on the team's highest score from each of the 4 boards. In the other divisions, the team score is based on the top 4 scores. The 9th and Under and 8th and Under divisions may be paired together. The 6th and Under, 5th and Under, and 3rd and Under divisions also may be paired together. Further tournament details can be found here.

In the High School Division, a team must place their top players on boards 1 to 4, respectively. After that, the remaining players can be placed on any board. If no choice is indicated, the directors will assign players to boards arbitrarily.

Instructions for registering online in the tournament.

  1. Enter the school information, even if the player is the only person from the school participating. Home-schooled players should enter the public school they would be attending and the grade which is appropriate for the player's age. The email address is used for automatic notification and for future Gateway Chess updates, and will not be given to any other party.
  2. Select your team section from the pulldown. If entering multiple sections, indicate the section for each player individually.
  3. Enter the player information for each participant.
  4. Enter any notes describing special circumstances that need to relayed to the tournament directors.
  5. Click the 'Submit Registration Information' button.
  6. Check the entry on the the confirmation page and click the 'Confirm Registration' button.

This data needs to be submitted by 6:00 PM Friday, December 15th. Any registrations submitted after this time will probably not be pre-registered at the tournament.

Note: Pre-registration saves you time at the tournament, because you will not have to fill out the registration form by hand at the tournament. This leads to greater efficiency and accuracy in tournament entries. However, even when you pre-register, you must be in line at the registration table by 8:30 AM in order to avoid the late registration fee. Also, late arrivals will likely be removed from the tournament files, and may not be allowed to play in the first round.

Changes can be made the day of the tournament.

Save additional time on tournament day! Each player who needs to buy or renew a USCF membership will need to fill out a USCF registration form.
